Jason Varitek to Announce Retirement Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on NESN

Jason Varitek is calling it a career, and he'll make his official announcement on Thursday at the same place his longtime teammate Tim Wakefield did the same a couple of weeks earlier.

The Red Sox announced Wednesday that Varitek's announcement will come from JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Fla., at 5:30 p.m. ET.

NESN will have live coverage of the 15-year veteran's retirement news conference.
