NBC Apologizes After M.I.A. Gives Middle Finger During Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show

It's no Janet Jackson, but the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI didn't go by without its fair share of controversy that has NBC apologizing to viewers.

M.I.A. was performing with Madonna during the halftime show, when she suddenly decided to flip off the camera for no apparent reason. The Peacock is saying that they're sorry.

"We apologize for the inappropriate gesture that aired during halftime," NBC spokesman Christopher McCloskey said, according to Reuters. "It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late."

There were also reports that M.I.A. swore during her performance, but considering the uncertainty around that claim, the NBC censors may have been able to catch that one. In any case, we won't hold our breath waiting for M.I.A. to get invited back to the big game any time soon.
