Rich Peverley to Miss 4-6 Weeks With MCL Sprain

The Bruins have gotten the news on forward Rich Peverley, and while his season isn't over, the B's will be without the forward for at least a month.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli announced that Peverley has a third degree sprained MCL in his right knee and will be out for 4-6 weeks.

Peverley suffered the injury on Wednesday night in Montreal when he collided with Canadiens defenseman Hal Gill in the third period of a 4-3 Bruins win. Peverley got to his feet slowly, skated off gingerly and did not return. He was sent back to Boston on Thursday for further evaluation.

Josh Hennessy, who was called up from Providence earlier in the week, will take Peverley's spot in the lineup when they travel to Winnipeg to take on the Jets on Friday night.

With the trade deadline less than two weeks away, the Bruins now find themselves dangerously thin up front in the wake of Peverley's injury as well as Nathan Horton's concussion that has him out indefinitely.
