Dustin Pedroia, who bats in the second slot for the Sox — which also happens to be where Crawford batted in nearly 600 games while with the Rays — opened up on the subject on Tuesday morning on Dennis and Callahan.
“He can hit wherever he wants, yeah,” Pedroia said. “If he wants to hit second, I’ve hit second for four or five years. If he wants to hit second, absolutely. It doesn’t matter to me, I don’t care.
“I’m going to hit wherever I hit,” he joked. “I rake anywhere.”
While it’s still undecided as to where Crawford should hit, do you think the Sox should move the versatile Pedroia away from the No. 2 slot? In 79 career games as the leadoff hitter, Pedroia posted a .253 BA to go with a .318 OBP. He has a .311 batting average and a .381 OBP in 524 games in the two slot. Batting third in 20 career contests, Pedie hit .269. Finally, in 31 games as the Sox’ cleanup hitter, he’s posted a .397 BA to go with a 1.117 OPS.
Where should Dustin Pedroia bat in the Red Sox lineup?
