Claude Julien's new line alignments appeared to be just the thing the Bruins needs to escape their late-season drought. But a back-to-back against the Islanders and the Rangers seemed to cause more concern than it quelled.
David Krejci's hat trick against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday was an absolute treat to witness, as Krejci has seemed to regain his form as of late with six points in the last four games. His reemergence paired with Tyler Seguin's speed and Milan Lucic's bruising force makes for one of the most talented lines in the league and played a big role in the B's 4-3 overtime win against the Devils.
A weekend visit from the Islanders wasn't so delightful, though, as some confusion about a non-icing call in the offensive end led to the game-winning breakaway for the Islanders in the 3-2 loss on Saturday. Tuukka Rask's groin injury didn't help things as the reliable, young goaltender had to leave Saturday's game midway through the second period.
Sunday's matinee with the Rangers followed suit with Saturday's defeat, as a hard-fought game went down to the wire but yet again the B's caved under the pressure and Tim Thomas allowed a Derek Stepan game winner to sneak past.
The Bruins were able to regroup from their weekend failings on Tuesday in Toronto, though. Rookie winger Jordan Caron exploded for two goals and an assist, adding some much needed offense to a recently woeful Bruins attack. Seguin added in a pair of goals as well, improving his season tally to 24 in the 5-4 win over the Maple Leafs.
Zdeno Chara and the B's can expect quite the road ahead of them in the coming week, with a weekend visit from Washington followed by a Sunday trip to Pittsburgh and Tuesday meeting with fellow 2011 Eastern Conference finalist Tampa Bay.
Between Rask's possible season-ending injury, the arrival of new backup goalie Marty Turco and a weekend showdown with two of the league's top teams there should be plenty for The Instigators to talk about after the Bruins visit from Buffalo on Thursday.
But, they still need a little help, which means there's still time for Jack, Brick and the gang to answer your questions.
