BOSTON –– Kevin Youkilis wants to leave the past in the past.

In the aftermath of Bobby Valentine‘s comments surrounding Youkilis’ physical and emotional commitment, the Red Sox third baseman shrugged off the assumption the issue was lingering.

“I hope not,” Youkilis said. “I hope its one and done type thing and we’re all good and we’re all one big happy family and play some ball.”

But his groin injury is apparently history. One day after sitting out with the injury, Youkilis was penciled back into the lineup against Texas. He said he suffered the tweak running from first base to home in Sunday’s game.

“It was one of those things where if [Monday’s game] was a [7 p.m.] game it would’ve been fine,” Youkilis said. “But the medical stuff didn’t want anything earlier and do some work with me longer. So we took care of it and it’s all good.”

Through eight games this season, Youkilis is batting .200.
