Report: Falcons on Verge of Acquiring Four-Time Pro Bowler Asante Samuel

It looks like Asante Samuel is going with a new set of feathers next season.

The Falcons are "on the verge" of acquiring the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback in exchange for a late-round draft pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Samuel has played the last four seasons in Philadelphia after spending his first five seasons in New England. The 31-year-old has been the subject of trade rumors for quite some time, though, so a deal on the week of the draft is relatively unsurprising.

A former fourth-round pick (2003) out of Central Florida, Samuel recorded a career-high 10 interceptions in 2006 as a member of the Patriots. In 2007, he was named First-Team All-Pro, leading to a hefty contract from the Eagles the following offseason.

Samuel was mostly known for his dwindling relationship with the Eagles organization last season, so we'll see if he benefits from flying south.
