Everyone wanted to see the New York Jets featured once again this year on Hard Knocks. Apparently, HBO has different plans.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that HBO has offered the Atlanta Falcons the starring role for the wildly popular series which follows an NFL team throughout its training camp. That doesn’t mean that the Falcons will accept, but it does give a pretty substantial idea of which way the network wants to go.

Fans and media alike were hoping that the Jets would land the role again this season. Rex Ryan‘s bunch starred in the last season of the show in 2010 (the show did not run last year because of the lockout), and the show was a can’t-miss event. The Jets would be even more interesting this season, after they decided to bring in Tim Tebow to serve as the team’s backup quarterback behind Mark Sanchez.

However, there were reports that Ryan didn’t want to further the circus-like atmosphere that will undoubtedly surround the Jets this season, despite the wishes of owner Woody Johnson, who reportedly wanted the team to be featured again.
