Bryce Harper Hoping Phillies Fans Won’t Be Throwing Batteries at Him in First Trip to Philadelphia

Bryce Harper is already at the center of the bad blood that is brewing between his Nationals and the Phillies.

Harper made news last week just by taking a Cole Hamels fastball to the back in his first at-bat against the veteran left-hander. Hamels took the situation to the next level after the game when he admitted to intentionally plunking Harper.

Everyone and their brother had an opinion after the incident — including Major League Baseball who suspended Hamels four games — except for Harper who just took it in stride.

He’ll be back in the news starting Monday night when he makes his debut in Philadelphia, a city where the fans have just as much of a reputation as the players. That, however, is something that Harper is looking forward to — kind of.

“Hopefully I get a couple of boos,” Harper said, according to USA Today. “I’m excited to get up there and plaey. Hopefully they don’t throw any batteries at me.”

It wouldn’t be a first for Philly fans, just ask J.D. Drew.
