Magic Johnson Converts Lifelong Larry Bird Fan Don Mattingly, Gives Each Dodgers Player Signed Lakers Jersey

It looks like Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is changing his allegiance.

The Indiana native, who is a lifelong Larry Bird fan, appears to be jumping on the Magic Johnson bandwagon after the former Laker great gave each Dodgers staff member a pair of signed No. 32 jerseys, according to MLB.com.

"This puts him over the top," said Mattingly, who admits to having green Bird sneakers that he bought at a charity auction.

Johnson, of course, is now part owner of the Dodgers, although he'll always be remembered for his contributions on the hardwood.

"Magic was the greatest point guard," the Dodgers' Jerry Hairston Jr. said. "[Michael] Jordan was the greatest shooting guard."

One of the jerseys given to each player was personalized, while the other was autographed so it could be donated to the charity of the player's choice.
