That's just what Hossler did on Friday afternoon, dropping to minus-2 through 10 holes on the second day of the tournament, before the amateur golfer fell back down to earth and finished the day at a still respectable plus-3, just four back of the lead — held by Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and David Toms.
Just last week the teenaged Hossler was playing in the California State High School Championships. Hossler shot a 68 in the final round, finishing in second place to a kid named Austin Smotherman. Seriously, Smotherman? More like "Some Other Man," right about now! — Alright, I'll stop.
When asked about the emotions he felt after grabbing the lead, even if it were only for a brief moment, Hossler let loose some of his teenage excitement but also remained focused on the task at hand.
"I was pretty excited about it, but then again I had another 40 holes at least to play," Hossler said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "You can't get too wrapped up on where you're at."
The youngster still sits near the top of the leaderboard and within striking distance of the leading trio. But whether he actually returns to the top, or free falls dramatically over the final two day, Hossler, who's committed to play golf at the University of Texas next season, will undoubtedly remember his time on top of golf's biggest stage.
Apparently, Tiger got a "five on it!"
"I wasn't gonna take that job; that's for sure,"

Manny Ramirez is back on the free agent market. But there's one place he'd surely fit right in.
