Greg Stiemsma is no Hibbert or McGee, of course, but his height and shot-blocking abilities could make him an attractive option for a team looking for big man depth. The 26-year-old rookie revealed his value as an NBA player this season, after a stint in South Korea and two stints in Turkey and the NBA Development League.
Even with Stiemsma's plantar faciitis, the Celtics need all the help they can get down low, and hold matching rights to any offer Stiemsma receives. Depending on how deep in its pockets another team wants to go, though, as well as how much money the Celtics will have available to spend once they fill out the rest of their roster, Stiemsma's return to Boston is far from certain.
Add in the likelihood that the Celtics will go big in the draft, and Stiemsma may actually find another team can not only offer more money, but more playing time. Quality big men are tough to find. Having too much interest would be a good problem for the former undrafted free agent to have.
