Courtney Lee wore No. 5 on his Houston Rockets jersey the last two seasons, but the newly acquired Celtics guard could not wear that number with Boston, since it belongs to Kevin Garnett. Lee's previous number with the New Jersey Nets, No. 6, was unavailable, too, as it belongs to a certain bejeweled center from Celtics lore.
Lee therefore chose to wear No. 11 and tweeted his decision Wednesday. The number is in honor of Danny Rumph, a former starting point guard for Lee's alma mater, Western Kentucky, who died in 2005.
