Darnell McDonald Designated for Assignment by Yankees to Make Room for CC Sabathia on Roster

Darnell McDonald is a Yankee no longer.

The former Red Sox outfielder, who was claimed off waivers by the New York Yankees after the Sox let him go, has been designated for assignment once again, according to the team. As a corresponding roster move, the team activated CC Sabathia off the disabled list.

In four games with New York, McDonald went hitless while striking out twice in his four plate appearances. He had been batting .214 for Boston before he was designated for assignment the first time this year.

The Yankees will have 10 days to trade McDonald, place him on waivers or release him.
