Jose Reyes’ Home Run Drills Wrigley Field Vendor Square in the Back (Video)

The life of a vendor or an usher at a major league ballpark ain’t an easy gig.

In addition to running up and down stairs or trying to corral unruly fans, you’re often left working with your back to the field, and with bats and balls sometimes launched into the seats, it can get a little dicey.

However, if you were a vendor or usher, you’d probably feel safe to assume that the outfield bleachers would be a safe haven.

One Wrigley Field vendor found out the hard way on Wednesday night that isn’t always true.

Jose Reyes homered off of Jeff Samardzija in the third inning, and instead of landing in the hands of a waiting spectator, the ball drilled a vendor who was turned away from the field directly in the back.

The vendor, who looked like he had just taken sniper fire, was able to hold his ground thanks to a railing. It’s probably safe to assume, however, that he’s got himself a nice black and blue somewhere on his back.
