Team USA Wins Gold Medal in Women’s Gymnastics Team Final for First Time Since 1996

Team USA is bringing home the gold in women's gymnastics. 

The Americans won their first gold medal in the team final since 1996 on Tuesday with a terrific performance in London. Team USA edged Russia who grabbed the silver medal and the bronze medalists, Romania in the all-around competition.

The American team featured Jordyn Wieber, Gabby Douglas, Kyla Ross, McKayla Maroney and Needham, Mass., native Aly Raisman

Team USA was helped along during the vault competition where it was Maroney who stole the show with a 16.233 scoring which propelled the U.S. to a 48.132 overall in the vault. The Americans ended the competition with an overall 183.596 score, rolling past the competition.

It's America's first win in the all-around team competition since 1996 in Atlanta where Kerri Strug's corageous vault on one leg carried the U.S. to victory.
