In hockey, emotions run high regardless of age.
Sometimes, those emotions lead to arguing. Sometimes, they lead to some physical play. Sometimes, they lead to a 1-on-1 altercation. And yet other times, frustration amongst players gets so pent up that everyone decides to go to blows.
That's exactly what happened over the weekend at the World Hockey Invitational AAA tournament in Latvia. It was the first time the annual tournament — usually held in Chicago in November — expanded internationally, and judging by the chaos that ensued, it could be the last.
Two U16 teams from Bauer Select and KHL club Lokomotiv played the first of their three round robin games on Friday. The third period eventually evolved into a slugfest after Lokomotiv took a 4-0 lead, and 56 penalty minutes were dished out in the contest's final two seconds.
