Bill Belichick Was Pretty Aroused by Idea of Drafting Warren Sapp, According to Warren Sapp

Did Warren Sapp put Bill Belichick on the four-hour watch? According to the former defensive tackle, yes. Yes, he did.

Sapp has a new book coming out, so it's his turn to do the TV/radio show circuit, dropping little salacious anecdotes here and there.

He certainly did that on Tuesday on the Scott Van Pelt Radio Show on ESPN Radio when talking about an alleged conversation he had with Belichick. When Sapp was set to enter the NFL draft in 1995, he says Belichick — then coach of the Browns — was excited about the idea of drafting Sapp. Like, really excited.

"He said, 'I wanna draft you so bad that I have an erection right now,'" Sapp told ESPN Radio.

OK, then. We all know that Belichick loves football, but this takes it a little far, no?

However, everybody's favorite football genius was left feeling blue, as the relationship wasn't meant to be. Sapp claims that Belichick was denied the ability to take him by Mike Lombardi, then a Browns personnel executive. Talk about your "on the clock" block.

This little tidbit could be completely fabricated by Sapp — it wouldn't be the first time he's been accused of doing such — but Belichick does really like good football players, and Sapp was certainly just that coming out of Miami.

ProFootballTalk.com does a great job of detailing what happened instead. As PFT points out, the Browns were in a position in which they could take Sapp — who would eventually go to Tampa Bay at No. 12 — but Cleveland traded the 10th pick, something that sounds a little more Belichickian. Of course, that ended up working out pretty well for Cleveland/Baltimore. They eventually nabbed the 49ers' first-round pick in '96.

They took Ray Lewis.

Felix Hernandez didn't throw a perfect game on Tuesday night. Instead, he pitched 7 2/3 innings and gave up one run. Stiff.

"Obviously, I can either scour the Internet or watch all the stuff being said on TV or I can just keep pitching and watch the Golf Channel, I guess."
