Taylor Hall Agrees to Seven-Year Extension With Oilers Worth Reported $6 Million Per Season

Taylor Hall is staying in Edmonton for the foreseeable future.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NHL entry draft has signed a seven-year extension with the Oilers, the club announced on Wednesday. TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that the new contract will be worth $6 million per season.

Hall is obviously widely regarded as one of the game's best young players, and he's done a nice job of living up to that hype in his first two seasons. The 20-year-old has 95 points in his first 126 games and is a minus-12 through those two seasons. He took a jump from his first season to his second, though, tallying 53 of those points in just 61 games. He also added 13 power play goals.

He's also a huge part of a rebuilding process that has helped Edmonton pile up the last three No. 1 overall picks. They took Hall in 2010, and then added Ryan-Nugent Hopkins in 2011 and Nail Yakupov this past June.
