The best part about sports reality TV shows like Hard Knocks, 24/7 or any other show like that is the almost unlimited access it provides.
Sports fans are taken behind the scenes to see what goes on not only the playing field but also the practice field, film room, coach’s office and even the general manager’s office.
On Tuesday’s episode of Hard Knocks, football fans were treated to an inside look at Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland as he worked to execute a trade with the Colts. Viewers saw Ireland engaging in initial discussions via text, talk to head coach Joe Philbin about what the Dolphins could receive in a deal for Vontae Davis and even a scene in which Ireland’s daughter showed him her artwork while he was on the phone negotiating.
But the best — and most humanizing — point came when Ireland had to tell Davis of the deal. Davis’ first instincts upon hearing the shocking news was to call his grandmother. It makes sense, too. Davis calls his grandmother his hero, and she was the one who raised the cornerback, his four sisters and two brothers.
Shortly after the episode aired, Davis took to Twitter to reaffirm his love for Grandma.
I do Love Grandma!!!!!!
