Patriots fans will remember several moments from New England's decisive 34-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday to open the 2012 campaign.
Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower combined for a great sack and score, showing this year's defense will be just fine. The offensive line not only protected Tom Brady (sans that nose-smushing), and the defensive line limited Chris Johnson and the rest of Tennessee's running game to 20 yards. Stevan Ridley can run — and actually hold on to the ball.
But the day wasn't just full of dominating plays from the Pats. New England fans also got a chuckle out of a usual foil, Rob Gronkowski, as he found a new way to unintentionally entertain.
Gronkowski caught a pretty fade into the back of the end zone late in the first half and quickly turned to his usual post-touchdown move: a Gronk spike. But the same sure hands that eat up passes and make fingertip grabs failed Gronkowski this time, as the ball slipped from his paws and skittered away.
Gronkowski played off the mishap, and the Patriots rolled to the win, but Gronkowski secured himself as one of the main stories for Week 1 after once again finding a way to stick out from the crowd. Check it out in the video below.
