If the Tigers are looking for a backup to supplant
pitcher Justin Verlander, they have one – Eminem.
Before the World Series started on Wednesday, the Detroit
rapper invited Tigers slugger Prince Fielder to his studio on Eight Mile Road
to chat about the championship hunt and the potential ramifications on the
city.
In the process, Eminem volunteered his services to
Fielder as a possible pinch hitter or starting pitcher.
"Let me know, I'm here man," Eminem told
Fielder.
After all, the rapper considers himself ambidextrous, an
asset that Detroit manager Jim Leyland would certainly appreciate. But expect
Leyland to take his chances with the roster that carried him to the World
Series.
An avid sports fan, Eminem has the pulse of the athletic
world in Detroit. He'd love nothing more to watch a championship celebration at
Comerica Field, especially after the beating the city has taken in recent
years.
Here is the video of the exchange between Fielder and
Eminem.
