Horse Named ‘A Rod’ Scratched at Belmont Day After Alex Rodriguez Lifted for Pinch Hitter in ALDS

Alex Rodriguez joked Wednesday night that when he was replaced by Raul Ibanez in the ninth inning of the Yankees' divisional series game, that it might have been the first time he had been pinch hit for since high school.

One day later, the Yankees third baseman wasn't the only "A Rod" who saw his name absent from a lineup.

A race horse from New York named "A Rod" was scratched from a race at Belmont Park. The horse was slated to run out of the seventh position in a Thursday afternoon race at 4:02 p.m. with a race purse of $54,000.

According to Equibase.com, the 3-year-old has brought in $58,155 for its career. To put that in some sort of perspective, A-Rod the baseball player made more than $237,000 per game played this season. That's a lot especially considering Rodriguez is not the thoroughbred he used to be (we're just horsing around, human A-Rod).

It's not the first time that Rodriguez has been linked to a horse before. He also used to reportedly date Madonna. Oh, and there was that whole centaur thing.
