Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia Absent From Red Sox Lineup in Series Opener With Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles aren’t going to like what they see when they look at the Red Sox’ lineup for Monday night’s series opener with the Yankees.

Boston opens its final series of this forgettable year by sitting both Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury, the two best offensive players the Red Sox have on their active roster right now. It’s a move that may irk the O’s at least a little, as they enter play on Monday tied for first place in the American League East with the Yankees.

That means it will be a light-hitting Red Sox lineup against CC Sabathia. The Yankees ace has bounced back nicely in his last two starts, allowing just two runs in 16 innings to go along with 21 strikeouts.
