Report: Patrice Bergeron Signs With HC Lugano, Will Play in Switzerland During NHL Lockout
Patrice Bergeron is heading to Switzerland to play during the NHL lockout, with HC Lugano announcing that they have signed the Bruins forward to a deal. Interestingly enough, Bergeron’s salary will reportedly be funded from outside the team.
In any case, the Bruins alternate captain is the latest member of the team to sign abroad. The announcement for Bergeron also comes on the same day that Bruins captain Zdeno Chara signed a deal with Lev Praha in the KHL.
Bergeron will join Tyler Seguin in Switzerland, although teammates David Krejci, Andrew Ference, Tuukka Rask and Anton Khudobin are also scattered across Europe during the NHL’s work stoppage. It was reporteded that Bergeron had also been considering offers from the Quebec Caravan League before deciding on the Swiss club.
