Tom Brady Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, Ties Peyton Manning’s Record Mark

Tom Brady
was Tom Brady on Sunday. That's enough to be named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Brady's big performance against the Bills on Sunday netted him the honor for the 21st time, which ties Peyton Manning's mark for the most Player of the Week awards earned by a player since the accolade was instituted in 1984.

Brady was in vintage form while dominating Buffalo in Week 4. He tossed for 340 yards and three touchdowns, while also picking up a rushing touchdown on a 4-yard scamper that tied the game at 21-21 in the third quarter.

The game wasn't tied for long, though, as Brady was really impressive in the second half. The Patriots scored six straight second-half touchdowns while putting up 45 total second-half points en route to a 52-28 road victory.

Brady, who earned six Player of the Week honors in 2011, has now thrown for over 300 yards in three straight games. He's also now thrown a TD pass in 36 straight games, which ties Brett Favre for the third-longest streak of all time. Brady trails only Johnny Unitas (47) and Drew Brees — who looks to break Unitas' 47-game streak on Sunday.

Perhaps the Player of the Week deadlock will be broken in Week 5, when Brady's Patriots host Manning's Broncos. It only makes sense.
