The longtime BC head coach underwent outpatient eye surgery on Thursday to remove a detached retina. The university says York is resting comfortably after the procedure which was done by Dr. Jeffrey Heier at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.
While York seems to be doing well, the surgery will keep out of this weekend’s series with No. 4 UNH. This two-game series could prove to be crucial as just two points separate No. 3 BC and UNH in the Hockey East standings.
The Eagles will be led by assistant coaches Mike Cavanaugh and Greg Brown in York’s absence.
Friday night’s game at Boston College is slated for a 7 p.m. puck drop and can be seen live on NESN.
