Evgeni Malkin Experiences Concussion-Like Symptoms After Eric Gudbranson’s Hit Into Boards (Video)

The Pittsburgh Penguins are no strangers to concussions. They lost captain Sidney Crosby for half of the 2010-11 season and most of 2011-12 due to lingering symptoms. Now, the Penguins’ other star, Evgeni Malkin, may have a concussion of his own.

In the third period of Friday night’s game against the Florida Panthers, Malkin carried the puck down the left wing. As he shot toward the net, Panthers’ defenseman Erik Gudbranson shoved the elite center into the lower boards causing Malkin to smack his head.

Though Malkin walked away from the impact, he is still experiencing concussion symptoms, according to Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Malkin has “severe headaches and mild disorientation.”
