Drew Brees, who had the nicest deal in the NFL until Joe Flacco came and bumped him down a couple of weeks ago, is among those who will admit that football stars get their fair share.
“Yes, we probably do,” Brees told WWL Radio when asked if athletes get paid too much. “Unless you’re finding a cure for cancer or creating world peace, I don’t know if anybody deserves to get that much money.
“That’s the industry that we’re in. You could probably say the same for actors, actresses and entertainers. We’re in the entertainment industry, and business is business, and there is a market. The market establishes what you get paid.”
Brees said he wasn’t surprised Flacco got the biggest contract, noting that another quarterback will probably get a bigger one soon.
The interviewer also failed to ask Brees whether he had any plans for world peace. You never know, right?
