Martin Brodeur is one of the greatest goaltenders in the history of the NHL. A fun fact about the New Jersey goalie is that going into Thursday night, he also had two career goals.
At 3:54 of the first period in Raleigh on Thursday, Brodeur scored his third career goal. After a delayed Devils penalty, Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal made an errant pass to the point, which deflected off the half-wall and went directly into the Carolina net.
It’s been several years since Brodeur last scored. In the 1997 playoffs he sent a puck the length of the ice into an empty net against Montreal. Brodeur then scored three years later against the Philadelphia Flyers.
