Disabled High School Senior Drew Bonner Gets First At-Bat, Draws Most Inspiring Walk Ever (Video)

High school senior Drew Bonner hasn’t had an at-bat since he was 11 years old, so needless to say, the Fairfax (Virginia) High School team manager was pretty excited when his coach sent him into the batter’s box.

Bonner has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, but that didn’t stop him from getting his first — and likely last — high school at-bat earlier this week, according to The Washington Post.

“It was a lot of fun and brought back some good memories from when I used to play,” Bonner told The Post on Tuesday afternoon. “I wasn’t nervous, but I was pretty excited. I can remember playing baseball all my life and it’s just one of the things that I really love to do.

“It was a great feeling to get back in the box again.”

“D-Bo,” as his teammates call him, drew a four-pitch walk off Madison hurler Nick Brady, which can be seen in the video below.
