Report: Bruins-Penguins Eastern Conference Finals Expected to Begin on Saturday

After a frantic four-month schedule that featured games jam-packed with back-to-backs and multiple stretches of three games in four days, the Bruins and Penguins now get to sit around and wait to start the Eastern Conference finals.

Hopefully, for their cases,  they’re both patient.

According to multiple reports, the Bruins and Penguins will drop the puck on Game 1 in Pittsburgh on Saturday night, which is June 1. That will come eight days after the Penguins finished out the Senators in their second-round series, and one week to the day that the Bruins eliminated the Rangers in Game 5 of their series.

Furthermore, there’s a chance that the Western Conference finals will begin the night before the East finals. That’s somewhat puzzling given the fact that neither participant has been decided. The Sharks and Kings will play Game 7 of their series Tuesday night, and the Blackhawks and Red Wings will play their Game 7 on Wednesday. If the Red Wings win Game 7, the Western Conference finals will reportedly begin Friday night, according to Sportsnet’s John Shannon.
