Maurice Jones-Drew is known as a bruising running back on the field, despite his small stature. Apparently, he may be bruiser off the field, as well.
The Jaguars running back was charged with battery after punching a security guard at a restaurant on Sunday, according to TMZ. The punch left the security guard unconscious with contusions and a bone bruise.
The altercation started when Jones-Drew’s friend was told to stop touching a woman by restaurant security. After MJD’s friend slapped the security guard in the chest, a fight ensued. The running back slugged the security guard after he had put Jones-Drew’s friend in a headlock.
The battery occurred at Conch House restaurant in St. Augustine, Fla., during “Reggae Sundays.” Jones-Drew has one year left on his contract. He’s set to make $4.95 million in 2013.
