On Friday, Bruce Irvin was suspended four games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. On Monday, news came out that backup quarterback Josh Portis was arrested on suspicion of a DUI on May 5 in Seattle.
Portis was pulled over on Cinco de Mayo for driving 80 mph in a 60 mph zone, according to The Seattle Times. Police said there was “a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle” and that Portis “had watery bloodshot eyes.”
Portis refused a breathalyzer test when he was pulled over but later registered blood alcohol concentration readings of .0922 and .078, according to police. The legal limit in Washington state is .080.
When Portis was pulled over, police said a passenger in the vehicle told the officer that Portis was a Seahawk.
“Portis asked me if I knew who he was and I stated yes,” the trooper wrote in the report. “[The passenger] exited the vehicle and began to cry. [The passenger] stated I was arresting a Seahawk, and I was going to ruin him. … [The passenger] shouted at me and stated she couldn’t believe that I was from Seattle, and was arresting a Seahawk.”
Portis faces arraignment next week. He is the cousin of retired running back Clinton Portis.
