Boston selected catcher Jon Denney with their third-round pick Friday, choosing the high school senior with the 81st overall pick. He hit .459 with 11 home runs for Yukon (Okla.) High School, and he was considered a first-round talent by many scouts. Denney was a 2013 Rawlings First-Team All-American and the No. 3-rated catcher in the draft, according to Baseball America.
The Sox also drafted pitchers Myles Smith (fourth round), Corey Littrell (fifth), Mike Adams (seventh), Kyle Martin (ninth) and Taylor Grover (10th). Centerfielders Jordon Austin (sixth round) and Forrestt Allday (eighth) rounded out the team’s top ten rounds of picks.
Three of the players are from high school, while seven are from college.
