David Ortiz Will Hit Sixth for American League in All-Star Game at Citi Field

Despite the Red Sox’ success this season up to the All-Star break, the first-place club hasn’t shown a ton of power in the lineup outside of David Ortiz. Ortiz will be surrounded by a lot more thunder during Tuesday’s All-Star Game, though.

The Boston designated hitter was voted into the All-Star Game in New York at Citi Field as the American League’s starting designated hitter. Ortiz will be right in the middle of a star-studded lineup, as manager Jim Leyland has penciled Oritz in as the No. 6 hitter for the visiting AL squad.

Ortiz will be surrounded by plenty of talent, and some sluggers he’s fairly familiar with, as six of the AL starters hail from the American League East.

Mets phenom Matt Harvey will take the ball as the National League starting pitcher, while Detroit’s Max Scherzer gets the start for the AL.
