Summer baseball is all fun and games — until you get taken out by a skydiver who’s delivering the game ball.
Currently playing for Missouri summer league’s Hannibal Cavemen, Mattingly Romanin, a sophomore shortstop from Chicago State University, was hanging around the infield during warm-ups when he was blindsided by the parachuting man before the start of Saturday’s Prospect League game.
After staying on the ground for a few moments — either to recover from getting kicked in the head or convincing himself that actually happened — Romanin managed to play the entire game.
Check out the pregame stunt gone wrong below, as well as Romanin’s postgame reactions to the bizarre incident.
