Jadeveon Clowney has been projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft for about three years now. Based on his 40-yard dash during spring testing, that prediction likely won’t change anytime soon.
Clowney ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash, according to his teammate, running back Mike Davis. A 4.46 is run of the mill for a top-tier wide receiver or cornerback, but Clowney is a 6-foot-6, 274-pound defensive end.
The freak athlete recorded 13 sacks last season as a true sophomore for South Carolina. He added 23 1/2 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and two passes defended.
Recorded times at spring testing are always high, but if any defensive end can run a 4.46-second 40, it’s this guy (sorry for pulling a Jon Gruden). He did do this, after all:
