If Pierre Webo has something against Laurent Koscielny, he didn’t hide it very well on Wednesday.
Webo, a forward for Turkish club Fenerbache, kicked Arsenal defender Koscielny in the face as he tried to kick the ball 30 minutes into their UEFA Champions League qualifying game.
Koscielny suffered a deep cut and left the field with his face covered in blood. He was taken to a hospital in Istanbul where he was treated and released.
After the game, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke about Koscielny’s condition and prospects for recovery, according to the BBC.
“He’s like a boxer who had a hard fight the night before; lots of blood around his eye and a deep cut,” Wenger said. “Let’s hope he recovers for next Tuesday against Fenerbahce.”
The referee showed Webo a yellow card for dangerous play. Wenger thought the incident was avoidable.
“I was not happy with the kick because I feel always that you can ease a bit off. Only the player in the end will know what he did.”
