Who said the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry was dead?
Alex Rodriguez led off the second inning for the Yanks in Sunday night’s game, and Ryan Dempster wasted no time in throwing behind the slugger with his first pitch. The right-hander followed with two more balls inside before nailing A-Rod with the fourth pitch of the at-bat — much to the enjoyment of the Fenway Faithful.
Home plate umpire Brian O’Nora emphatically issued warnings to both teams, which prompted Joe Girardi to burst onto the field and eventually get tossed. Both benches cleared for a moment, but nothing ensued and play resumed.
