Colorado Football Team Serves Food to Boulder, Colo., Residents Affected by Area Flooding

The University of Colorado’s football game against Fresno State was postponed Saturday because of deadly flooding in the Boulder area, so the football team found a way to help the local fans that support them.

The game was postponed late Friday, and the food for the concession stands at the stadium had already been delivered to the stadium before the announcement, so the school decided to open the club level to first responders and victims of the flood as a place to stay dry, eat and relax, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports.

Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre had his entire team on hand to serve meals and clean up the area, and student-athletes from other teams joined in to help.

“It’s been a really nice break and a nice little diversion for us,” said officer Matthew DeLaria of the CU Police Department. “It’s nice to see the players and everybody out here working to support the community.”

The team’s players weren’t immune from the affects of Mother Nature, either, as Wide receiver D.D. Goodson told the school’s official website his apartment was filled with waist-deep water at one point and he lost his television, sofa and other possessions.

A make-up date for the football game has not yet been scheduled.
