Ohio State Players Line Up to Hug Local Sports Anchor Whose Daughter Recently Passed Away (Video)

On Saturday afternoon, the Buckeyes’ best play of the day came after they had wrapped up their game against Wisconsin.

Ohio State paid its respects for Dom Tiberi, the sports director at the CBS affiliate in Columbus, Ohio, who lost his 21-year-old daughter, Maria, in a car crash on Sept. 17. Before the Buckeyes took on Florida A&M on Sept. 21, OSU honored Tiberi and his family with a moment of silence, and they also sported “MT” decals on their helmets.

After taking a short leave, Tiberi returned to The Shoe for the first time since the tragedy for the matchup of Big Ten rivals. The Buckeyes bested the Badgers 31-24, and the long-time sports anchor received an outpouring of love and support after the big win. Players, staff members and coaches all stopped to give Tiberi a big hug and welcome him back as they exited the field at Ohio Stadium.
