Doctors believe Sanchez may have a torn labrum in his injured throwing shoulder, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen. He will visit with renowned Dr. James Andrews this week for a second opinion on the shoulder.
Sanchez was actually on the field with the Jets during pregame warmups on Sunday, and he was even throwing passes — albeit left-handed.
The Jets haven’t given a set timeline for Sanchez’s return yet, and it seems that’s because they don’t know the severity of the injury just yet. A torn labrum could mean he’ll miss a few months, even hitting injured reserve. If it is just a separated shoulder, as the Jets originally anticipated, then he could be back in a few weeks.
Although, there’s no guarantee his starting job will be there for him when he gets back.
