Adam Wainwright Serves as Commissioner of Fantasy Football League That Includes Dodgers Outfielder Skip Schumaker

Adam Wainwright and Skip Schumaker‘s competitiveness runs deeper than baseball — so deep that it spreads past the diamond and into the gridiron, in fact.

The two are set to square off Monday, with Wainwright taking the mound for the Cardinals in Game 3 of the NLCS against the Dodgers, but most of the chirping leading up to the big game has been focused on fantasy football rather than their matchup.

As it turns out, the St. Louis right-hander is the commissioner of the fantasy league that his former teammate and now Dodgers outfielder is also a part of, and Schumaker didn’t speak too highly about how the man in charge runs the league.

“He’s one of the worst commissioners in the history of fantasy football,” Schumaker said with a grin. “He’s always late. Draft time is always an hour later.”

Schumaker insisted he wasn’t alone in his assessment of Wainwright’s ruling, dragging the Braves catcher into this as well.

Brian McCann is in it,” Schumaker continued. “There are a few guys who can verify all this. He’s horrible.”

Schumaker even told KMOV in St. Louis that impeachment proceedings have been considered to run Wainwright out of office, but they’ve never pulled the trigger on the harsh move.

“We’ve tried,” Schumaker said. “We don’t want to hurt his feelings. It means a lot to him. We know how much it means to him.”
