Neymar usually shoots with laser-like accuracy, so you can understand why Zambia’s players were so upset at him.
The Brazilian soccer star nearly sparked a brawl Tuesday when he kicked a ball into a Zambia player’s midsection. The cringe-inducing incident took place right after the referee blew the halftime whistle in Brazil’s 2-0 win against Zambia.
Having doggedly held the Brazilians scoreless in the first half, Zambia’s players were incensed and tried to convince the referee to send Neymar off. The official didn’t oblige, deciding that there was not enough harm to caution Neymar.
Neymar appeared to claim that he hadn’t heard the whistle, as the crowd at the Bird’s Nest stadium in Bejing was making a lot of noise.
The Zambians and those who see the incident might disagree.
