A heartbreaking loss to the New York Jets on Monday night dropped the Falcons to 1-4 on the season, but it appears they might have suffered an even greater loss in the game.
Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones suffered a foot injury in the loss, and the team fears that it is season-ending, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal Constitution. Jones left the game for a few plays during the Falcons’ touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter on Monday, but he returned to the field and helped them on their way to a go-ahead score. There is no indication which play the injury occurred on.
Jones, 24, currently leads the NFL with 41 receptions. He ranks second in the league with 580 receiving yards and has scored two touchdowns on the season.
