It’s always an event when Joe Thornton returns to Boston, which is exactly what the former Bruins center did Thursday night as a member of the San Jose Sharks.

Everyone knows Thornton’s story at this point, as the big forward was drafted by the Bruins as the No. 1 overall pick back in the 1997 NHL entry draft. It didn’t take him long to make an impact before he was eventually traded to San Jose.
