Report: James Dolan Enraged at Knicks’ 1-2 Start, Ordered Team Dancers’ Routine Be Cut Back in Response

Carmelo Anthony is taking the Knicks’ sluggish start to the season in stride. Owner James Dolan, unsurprisingly, is not.

Dolan has been known to flip his lid about all kinds of things in the past, but there’s a new target for his vitriol now that the Knicks have started the year 1-2, according to the New York Daily News.

“Dolan has become such a hands-on owner — figuratively speaking — that, according to a source, he doesn’t want the dancers dancing,” the Daily News’ Frank Isola reports.

Dolan has been involved with the Knicks City Dancers before, asking to have a say in what the dancers wear, according to Isola. Now, he’s “apparently ordered that the girls’ roles be reduced to mostly throwing T-shirts into the crowd. They performed maybe one routine on Sunday.”

Isola notes that Dolan’s impatience is over the team’s first “losing record” — albeit three games — since March 24, 2012, and that after not only getting to the playoffs but also winning a series last year, “he doesn’t want to go back.”

How nixing dancing at Madison Square Garden will solve that, no one knows, but it’s happening.

The Knicks lost at home to the Timberwolves on Sunday and host the Bobcats on Tuesday night — for anyone interested in just watching basketball, that is.
