Wil Myers won the Players Choice Award for Outstanding Rookie in the American League on Monday night, and while his skills were more than deserving of the honor, his hair was not up to par.
The Tampa Bay outfielder beat out fellow teammate Chris Archer and Detroit shortstop Jose Iglesias to take home the hardware, and although Myers didn’t join the big league club until June 18, he led all AL rookies with 53 RBIs that he compiled in the 88 games he played. Myers also batted .293 with 13 home runs to help the Rays reach the playoffs for the fourth time in six years.
Myers’ statistics during his first season were impressive. His hair upon accepting the award was not.
Looking like a frat bro who had just rolled out of bed and was late to class, Myers redefined “bed head” in being named the top rookie, revealing it’s the offseason for hair cuts too.
