Adrian Peterson Carted Off Field After Suffering Brutal Ankle Injury in Vikings-Ravens Game (GIF)

Adrian Peterson certainly isn’t suffering from any lingering effects of his knee injury, but now he may have a new injury to worry about.

Peterson suffered an ankle injury early in the second quarter against the Ravens on Sunday. The injury looked pretty serious, as he rolled around along the sideline writhing in pain. In fact, it was so serious that he even needed to be carted off the field as he was incapable of walking back to the locker room under his own power.

Peterson suffered the injury on a third-down play early in the second quarter. He flared out of the backfield for a quick screen pass from quarterback Matt Cassel, but as he reached the sideline, Ravens rookie linebacker Arthur Brown hit him low, keeping him from gaining the first down, and apparently did something to cause the ankle injury.

The Vikings running back was struggling against the Ravens’ defense before the injury, carrying the ball seven times for just 13 yards and catching the one pass for four yards on the day.

There is no timetable for his return, but he was ruled out of the Vikings’ game in Baltimore after undergoing X-rays in the locker room.
